Our Practice
Dr. Dewey’s practice is among one of the longest standing dental practices in Traverse City. We have maintained our well-established reputation by holding fast to our dedicated family atmosphere. First opened by Dr. Shipman in the 1940s, the practice thrived through the years while ensuring quality services and exceptional care of our patients. In 2014, Dr. Harmeson handed over the reigns of the practice to Dr. Dewey, who continues to preserve this lasting Traverse City business.
Scheduling
Our office is open Monday - Thursday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
We will always try to accommodate urgent and emergency needs as soon as possible, even if attention is needed during non-business hours. Dr. Dewey is part of a large coverage group of local dentists who provide exceptional on-call care on a rotating schedule. You can always obtain contact information for an on-call dentist after hours by calling our office.
We strive to give each patient the attention they deserve during their scheduled time, with minimal wait and delay. Occasionally unexpected needs arise during appointments, which extend past the scheduled appointment time. Whenever we can, we will try to notify patients of changes as soon as possible to minimize wait time in our reception area.
New Patients
For your first visit, you will most likely be scheduled with Dr. Dewey for a complete comprehensive exam. From this visit we can determine your health history, your dental history, your current dental needs, and individual goals for your oral health. We also determine what type of hygiene appointments will best suit your situation.
You may be asked to update dental X-rays. For accurate diagnosis and comprehensive care, typically each patient should have current films. Most restorative needs are found utilizing digital x-ray technology, allowing Dr. Dewey to see what is not visible with an intraoral exam. Detecting and restoring small problems usually prevent the need for more costly and extensive work. We can always help you retrieve current x-rays you may have on record at another office.
You will also be asked to complete a health history form and HIPAA privacy policy consent form. Please let us know if you have ever been told by a physician that you need to be premedicated for dental appointments. If you are unsure, someone will help you determine your need for this after reviewing your health history.
Payment Options
We accept payment for services in the form of cash, personal check, VISA, Mastercard, and Discover Card.
We appreciate payment at the time of service, however if you have the help of insurance, we will gladly bill them for your services.
